Solara's Sunshine Swirl Creamsicle Pops

We're celebrating #NationalCreamsicleDay the Solara way...with our very own take on classic creamsicle pops! We did all the taste testing so you don’t have to and came up with the perfectly refreshing and sweet treat for summer! Our recipe was inspired by Cooking with Cocktail Rings' Orange Creamsicle Ice Pops but tweaked with a Solara superfruit twist!

You know we’re mega-fans of superfruits, so this tasty recipe is antioxidant packed and sure to be loved by adults + kids, alike (even pups love them!). If you’ve tried our Go! Collection of superfruit-infused mineral sunscreens, you know we LOVE mangoes and oranges for their antioxidant skincare benefits, but did you know they offer amazing vitamin c and cell defense benefits? Here's how:

Oranges

Packed with vitamin C, oranges boost the immune system, aiding in the prevention of illnesses and supporting overall well-being. Their high fiber content promotes digestive health and helps in maintaining a healthy weight. Additionally, oranges are rich in antioxidants, which combat free radicals and contribute to cellular health. Beyond their internal benefits, oranges also work wonders for our skin. The vitamin C in oranges supports collagen production, enhancing skin's elasticity and firmness while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The fruit's antioxidants further protect the skin from environmental damage, promoting a radiant and youthful complexion. Inclusion of oranges in one's diet thus not only supports internal health but also contributes to vibrant and glowing skin.

Mangoes

These supercharged tropical fruits have over 20 vitamins and minerals inside like Vitamin C, selenium, copper, and zinc! In skincare, mango extracts are used as powerful antioxidants helping to fight free radicals and help with brighter skin. To eat, the “super antioxidant” that links mangoes to tremendous immune boosting, heart supportive and aging benefits is mangiferin, which has also been shown to fight oxidative stress linked to certain cancers.  It also contains Vitamin K, which is great for strengthening bones and Vitamin A for eye health.

So, gather your oranges + mangoes and head to the kitchen to whip up these yummy summer treats!

Solara's Sunshine Swirl Creamsicle Pops

Recipe inspired by Cooking with Cocktail Rings

EQUIPMENT:

  • Popsicle molds
  • Serving spatula
  • Blender

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1½ cups pulp-free organic orange juice
  • Handful of fresh or frozen organic mangoes (Optional but recommended!)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt divided
  • Orange gel food coloring as needed

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • In a blender, puree the orange juice, the sugar, ½ cup of the yogurt until combined. If you're leveling up your recipe with chunks of fresh or frozen mango, this is the time to add them to the blender with your orange juice, sugar and yogurt for an extra boost of immune-supporting selenium, copper, and zinc!
  • Add a little bit of the gel food coloring using a toothpick and blend until the mixture is a pale orange color.
  • Divide the mixture between the 3-ounce Popsicle molds until they are filled ½ of the way up. Alternate adding small scoops of yogurt with the remaining orange juice mixture to create a swirly effect.
  • Insert the popsicle sticks and freeze until the pops are solid, about 6 hours. Briefly run the molds under the hot water to release the popsicles from the molds.

SOLARA-FY YOUR POPS!

  • If you like a little kick, sprinkle some chili-lime salt on top.
  •  Turn them into cocktail ice pops by adding rum, vodka, tequila, or peach schnapps liqueur, because...why not?
  • Blend in some vanilla ice cream to make these mango creamsicles even more indulgent.
  • Make it vegan with coconut condensed milk or full-fat coconut milk with 4-5 dates!
